Something a little different....
Even though there was fair warning from director Josh Boone about the direction of X-Men: The New Mutants, the trailer still surprised me with how different it feels from other X-Men films! The idea that Fox actually committed to the horror genre and stripped away any familiar faces, locations, or imagery for their first foot forward is actually encouraging, even if I'm afraid of horror films!
There is no denying that this film has a cool cast in the form of Anya "More than held her own in Split" Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie "Arya Stark" Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie "Stranger Things season 2 is coming" Heaton as Cannonball, Henry "13 Reasons has some shortcomings" Zaga as Sunspot, in addition to Alice Braga as Dr. Reyes and Blu Hunt, an actual Native American getting to play a Native American character named Mirage in a movie!
The film will be in theatres in April 2018. I'm guessing I have to see this as I see most every comic book movie, but I can't shake how intentionally scary this looks. Not a bad thing, just not my cup of tea. Are you excited or put off by this trailer?
