Ranking All Seasons of the Netflix MCU Shows (Worst to Best)
We've all settled down from the shock of Infinity War. It's time to talk about some people who did not help while Thanos and his kids tried to mess with earth!
That's right The Defenders aka the Netflix corner of the MCU which should probably just be it's own thing but they insist on tying themselves in the weirdest ways to the events of the films. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, or The Punisher! Who has the best show? Were they better together? This list will decide.
Show & Season/Rank:
#8- Iron Fist Season 1 (March 17, 2017)
Why, Though:
I didn't just talk about this season on Spoiled Rotten during episode 42. I wrote about it too. I say all of that to say that the show isn't good. I don't care who says otherwise. I've clearly thought a lot about it. I've seen it all the way through twice and it's not good. What a terrible lead character. He doesn't learn anything and constantly does things that are annoying. I suggest you read my review of the season and/or listen to the Spoiled Rotten episode if you think this isn't well thought out enough.
Show & Season/Rank:
#7- The Punisher Season 1 (November 17, 2017)
Why, Though:
Unlike Iron Fist, I don't think this season of television is bad. I just know it's not for me. I'm sorry if that rubs you the wrong way. I think they got a little too in the weeds with the soldier aspect and forgot that this was supposed to be a comic book TV show. But it has it's staunch supporters and I can't say I blame them. It clearly tapped into something I didn't have. Listen to me elaborate on this idea during episode 59 of Spoiled Rotten!
Show & Season/Rank:
#6- The Defenders Season 1 (August 18, 2017)
Why, Though:
You'd think bringing everyone, but The Punisher... for some reason, together for a tight 8 episode arc on Netflix would be dope! You'd be wrong. It's fine but it still feels overlong even though it's 5 episodes shorter than every other season and I didn't even really care what they were trying to accomplish by the end of the season. Listen to me try to convince Ben that it wasn't that great on episode 53 of Spoiled Rotten! An Avenger style event, this is not.
Show & Season/Rank:
#5- Daredevil Season 1 (April 10, 2015)
Why, Though:
People probably thought this would be in the number one spot. Fights that last way too long interrupting episodes of Law & Order can't fool me. I don't like legal procedurals and this show gets dangerously close to that. I also have a saying on Spoiled Rotten, SHOW ME THE SUIT! I'm not trying to watch a blind man constantly get beat to a bloody pulp because he only wears Under Armour. Put him in the suit or don't draw attention to the fact that he needs a suit! In truth it was the first of its kind and I have to respect it on that level, but there are better seasons. If you want to hear me talk about this season, listen to the pilot episode of Spoiled Rotten!
Show & Season/Rank:
#4- Jessica Jones Season 2 (March 8, 2018)
Why, Though:
Much like the Punisher, the second season of Jessica Jones seemed to be at odds with the Comic Book Nature of the source material. I can appreciate an in depth character piece about addiction, but whenI feel they're shoe horning in villain fights, things start to fall apart. this season could have been better but it's not horrible. Maybe I just like the characters already so this season skates by on that goodwill. If you want to hear me get more in depth, then you should check out episode 63 of Spoiled Rotten!
Show & Season/Rank:
#3- Daredevil Season 2 (March 18, 2016)
Why, Though:
Tired of all the negativity? Well here's a season I genuinely enjoyed. The second season of Daredevil actually called it's main character out and I appreciated it. Elektra and The Punisher forced Matt Murdock to reconcile with his half measures of crime fighting. I didn't like Foggy's constant nagging, but that was my one complaint. Other than that I thought that the way they broke up the season actually helped with the normal lag these seasons have and it used Kingpin perfectly. Further praise (as well as a more in depth rant about Foggy) can be found on episode 23 of Spoiled Rotten!
Show & Season/Rank:
#2- Luke Cage Season 1 (September 30, 2016)
Why, Though:
I loved Luke Cage! The world that was created was amazing, I loved Misty, Pops, obviously Cotton Mouth, Mariah, even Shades. The only person I didn't love was Luke. He's been good in Jessica Jones, and even The Defenders, but he got out shined on his own show. That's a minor problem for me but other people like to dismiss the whole show because of it. Well that and the bait and switch with the villain. I'm not that mad about it, it made sense to me plus I enjoyed the world so much I didn't care who the main villain was. Listen to me defend this show to the death on episode 34 of Spoiled Rotten!
Show & Season/Rank:
#1- Jessica Jones Season 1 (November 20, 2015)
Why, Though:
I have nothing bad to say about the first season of Jessica Jones. It's the perfect marriage of trying to elevate the comic book genre and embracing the comic book genre. The nods to Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in the comics is great and the villain is the perfect way to explore the themes of the season. This is the only season I've watched more than 2 times! I can't write enough good things about it, so why don't you listen to episode 16 of Spoiled Rotten for a better break down of this season!
