10 of My Favourite Busta Rhymes Music Videos

Busta Rhymes not only used to be the most feared person to show up on a posse track, he also used to kill it with his visuals.  I mean no disrespect here.  I just feel like music videos aren't the events they used to be now.  If Busta is still dropping amazing videos I sit at my keyboard corrected!

Let's just take a moment and appreciate everyone's favourite song from the Space Jam soundtrack!  That video didn't appear on this list because it was a step too far removed from feeling like a genuine "Busta" video.

Anyway let's get into 10 great moments in Busta Rhymes history!

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Woo Hah (Got You All In Check)" (1996)

What's so special:
A big theme you'll see revisted is that I find Trevor Smith to be so animated and colourful!  I mean he isn't too school to have fun on camera and dress in weird outfits with dope fish eye camera work!  This guy has colour coded outfits for different locations and he is never not working hard for you!  Way to set the tone, Bus-a-Bus!

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" (1997)

What's so special:
If I'm being honest, this is probably my favourite Busta Rhymes song and video.  It helps that it was the song/video that made my mom agree to buy all Busta Rhymes albums for me in perpetuity!  I guess she dug the references to Coming to America.  I just thought this was a nice polished version of the colourful/animated fish eye look from previous videos word to the glow in the dark paint shots.

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Dangerous" (1997)

What's so special:
Well, well, well!  If it isn't another Eddie reference in the form of 48 Hours and an overall amazing narrative throughout the video and a martial arts fight?  I feel bad because this song doesn't do much for me, at this age, if I'm not watching the wacky video.  But, boy! What a video!

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Turn it Up/Fire it Up" (1998)

What's so special:
See what I mean!  Even in black and white Bussa Bus down Sumthin comes off as colourful as ever.  Not content to just hit up the club for his video but creating a, what I can only assume is some sort of post-apocalyptic world to do his thing in!  I still haven't seen Knight Rider but that's a dope theme song to sample, BRUH!

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Gimmie Some More" (1998)

What's so special:
Speaking of sampling!  Psycho's opening music got sampled for this and that deserves some applause alone.  But the fact that there is some crazy story about a kid chasing his mom around in addition to all sorts of crazy imagery is why this video will always be here.  If you're really really really real, you'll remember the skit on the album that came before this that always made people laugh if you recited it!

Video:
Busta Rhymes (ft. Janet Jackson)- "What's It Gonna Be?!" (1999)

What's so special:
Look these visuals didn't age the way I thought they would, but you gotta trust me when I say this was the best thing smokin' back when it first aired!  No one had believable effects like this in Hip Hop!  You know what else they didn't have?  Janet Jackson on their song and in the video!  Sure she's had rappers on her songs, but, this was the song and video that brought Janet over to the other side of the tracks!

Video:
Busta Rhymes (ft. P Diddy & Pharrell Williams)- "Pass The Courvoisier Part II" (2002)

What's so special:
[Yeah I know this isn't the full video... times are hard, what can I say?]
Call me crazy, but I prefer the original song.  However, this video is amazing!  I love cameos and this videos has some to spare!  Including a reference to another Eddie movie, Harlem Nights.  But, seriously, Jamie Foxx in this video was the height of excitement for me.

Video:
Method Man (ft. Busta Rhymes)- "What's Happenin" (2004)

What's so special:
I know I didn't put "Hit 'Em High" on the list proper but I put a Busta guest spot on the list all the same.  1: who cares, this is my list and it's a dope song so just enjoy! But 2: doesn't it feel like this could just as easily been on a Busta album?  No?  Who cares the bus scenes are so cool and I dig Method Man x Busta Rhymes joints... clearly!

Video:
Busta Rhymes (ft. Mary J. Blige/Rah Digga/Missy Elliott/Lloyd Banks/Papoose/DMX)- "Touch It (Remix)" (2005)

What's so special:
Featuring Remy Ma's husband and one of my favourite verses by him how could I not have this video on this list?  There's an extended version somewhere but this version keeps all the good lines and has the cool stomp the yard part at the beginning that always gets me!  Let's also point out that there's something about X's delivery and colour scheme that gives me chills.  All sorts of dopeness!

Video:
Busta Rhymes- "Don't Touch Me (Throw Da Water On 'Em)" (2008)

What's so special:
I was disappointed this didn't show up on an album.  Either way is like Dangerous levels of fun.  It's like Bus knew I was wishing for the animated too crazy to just have a bunch of half naked women in his video.  There are characters, pop culture icon, and film references so thank, you my friend!  Even without the dreads you keep the fun coming!
