#TLOAKF
And now we cut to footage from the Tidal offices:
As a fan of Kanye, simply put, I'm hurt. I've always felt the need to stick up for Jay Z's baby bro. He always felt like that outspoken kid who everyone laughed at till he dropped a body of work that, no matter how much you laughed at him before, petitioned for him not to perform in your city, made memes about him, or whatever, you found at least one song that you'd hum in the shower or became a part of everyone around you's life.
For as many people I see laugh at Mr. West on a regular basis on Facebook, I always countered with a "So you didn't rock to "Jesus Walks" for a week? "Gold Digger" wasn't coming out of everyone's car for a summer? Never head "Good Life" at a party? Wasn't everyone humming "Love Lockdown" at some point? Oh yeah, Adele was just rapping a Kanye song with James Corden!"
But this latest album... BRO! Unfortunately, for fans who just want to keep adding to their life's soundtrack, we had to let the music take a back seat to tone deaf tweets about Bill Cosby,
hearsay about Taylor Swift,
and rants about debt and why Canadians should pay $35.99 per month for the privilege of streaming the album.
I get that I get access to more than just Kanye's album but keep in mind there is no way to download these songs... so... so much for listening on the subway on my way to work.
All this and the album didn't even come out when he said it would.
"I miss the old Kanye, straight from the 'Go Kanye
Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye"
Remember the Kanye who loved music so much that he recorded a song even though his mouth was shut?
Remember that kind of dedication to get his music out to his fans?
"I hate the new Kanye, the bad mood Kanye
The always rude Kanye, spaz in the news Kanye"
I always looked past the way Kanye was spazzing in the media because I understood there was a deeper message to what he was in a bad mood about. I saw a man who felt he had a lot to offer and didn't want to be told what he could and couldn't offer to the world.
"I miss the sweet Kanye, chop up the beats Kanye
I gotta to say, at that time I'd like to meet Kanye"
Actually I never wanted to meet Kanye, but I was always happy to listen to his music. He was (and probably still is) one of my favourite beat chopper uppers. But if his twitter feed, in addition to numerous interviews, even in Toronto is anything to go by...
Kanye may have decent points but no one will hear them through his emotional knee-jerk responses to any and everything. AKA... there was never really a publicly sweet Kanye.
"See I invented Kanye, it wasn't any Kanyes
And now I look and look around and there's so many Kanyes"
I don't know about there being more Kanyes out ther. Mr. West truly is one of a kind in the way he carries himself. However, I submit, that he is just an exposed raw nerve version of what any successful (read: people know who they are enough to make memes about them) person is on the inside.
Now aside from the fact that whoever Reese was with should be cut from her life. Oh and she wasn't shot or beat even though she wasn't going along with things just like the guy in the video... but that's none of my concern... What's more important is that when it comes down to it, Reese defaults to using her celebrity. the cop should know who she is and treat her with the respect a Reese Witherspoon deserves. To be clear, Pauline, this isn't an indictment on Reese's behavior. I'm simply pointing out that all successful people have had to build up a huge ego so they can weather constant rejection. Kanye just doesn't know how to tone his down.
"That's all it was Kanye, we still love Kanye
And I love you like Kanye loves Kanye"
Kanye, even if you don't put your album on Apple Music/iTunes (which would be ideal), please make it available for purchase. Enough George Lucas, constantly tinkering even after the release, nonsense! The album is good even if I did prefer Sia and Vic Mensa on Wolves.
So give people options for legally acquiring it. We get that you love you. But there are fans that don't want to feel left out of the love fest because they're not on Tidal. I get Tidal needs exclusives, but as your big brother said,
and those Pirate Bay Numbers are telling quite the true story. You had the right idea with bonus content such as G.O.O.D. Friday releases being on Tidal only, music videos being on Tidal only, live streams and so on. But, don't make the actual album the premium content, man. That's so not Kanye.
